Water can get into your basement or crawlspace in two ways outside of a plumbing failure such as a water heater, pipe leak or when it rains or during heavy snow melt.  Seepage water is the water that can get into your basement or crawlspace when it rains hard, or from heavy snowmelt.  The water can get in through cracks or other spaces in your basement floor and where the floor meets the walls. It can also get in through the walls themselves. Sewage water can also back up into your basement during heavy rains if the municipal sewer system in your area becomes full. When this happens, your private drain becomes full and can eventually back up into your home. Many homes have both issues!  Goode Plumbing can help with both of these.

Keep Water Out of Your Basement.

If you are experiencing a seepage water issue, we can install our seepage water prevention system. This consists of excavating the perimeter of the basement or crawlspace, approximately two feet deep and one foot wide. We also install a basin for a sump pump. We do things differently than most of our competition. We start with a fiberglass basin, which is more durable than plastic basins. Our basin is extra deep, which allows for greater capacity, and less pump cycling which leads to longer pump life. We use a high-quality sump pump, with an optional high quality back up pump system. Our pump installation includes a quiet type check valve as standard equipment (if you have ever been in a home and have heard a loud “THUNK!” every time the sump pump shuts off after a cycle, you will love this feature!). Our piping is also set deeper than code requires and is laid in a bed of more gravel than most other systems.  We use rigid piping for our drain systems to capture more rainwater, and to ensure it has a great slope and smooth inner walls, unlike lesser systems that use corrugated piping. We also include cleanouts where needed should future maintenance be needed.  Finally, we patch the concrete area where applicable and leave the area clean. Like everything else we do, our system is built to a high standard.
